Mr. Gerald A. Spohrer Special Assistant to the President
As Special Assistant to the President (COO), Mr. Spohrer is authorized, in the absence of a regional director, to serve as the CEO of the Authority and its member districts. In this capacity, his is responsible for leading and coordinating all the activities of the Authority as may be necessary to provide hurricane and riverine flood protection systems for the West Bank of metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana.
He oversees all facets of administrative, human resource, flood control and emergency preparedness activities for the authority. This includes:
- Assuring all financial and administrative responsibilities of the Authority are structured and implemented in accordance with applicable laws, standards and Board policies
- Developing a well trained work force capable of implementing the duties and responsibilities of the Authority and its member districts in regard to the operations, maintenance and inspection of all levees under the jurisdiction of the Authority
- Leading and coordinating the development and implementation of all flood control projects
- In consultation with the President, directing all emergency preparedness and response activities and assuring that work is performed such that the safety of the public is maintained
